Biography
Anthony Hartsook is a Republican state representative serving Colorado House District 44, which covers Douglas County communities including Parker, Stonegate, Sierra Ridge, Meridian Village, and Stepping Stone. First elected in 2022 with 57.20% of the vote, he won re-election in 2024 with 58.64% against his Democratic opponent. He currently serves as Republican Minority Caucus Chair. A decorated combat veteran, Hartsook retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years in the U.S. Army, with deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the 1990 Gulf War; assignments included the Pentagon Joint Staff, Northern Command in Colorado, Italy, and Korea. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Post-military, he worked as Director of Business Development for Aspen Communications and as Legislative Affairs Assistant to U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, focusing on veterans' issues, small businesses, healthcare, education, defense, and national security. Notable achievements include the Common Sense in the Courtroom Award from the Colorado Civil Justice League and the Faith, Family, and Freedom Award from the Centennial Institute. He advocates for reducing taxes and regulations, defending families, and supporting law enforcement.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northern Arizona University; Master’s in Administration from Central Michigan University; graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and Leadership Program of the Rockies.
