Biography
Senator Tom Patton ** represents **Ohio Senate District 24, which covers southwest Cuyahoga County, including Strongsville, Berea, Broadview Heights, Brooklyn, Brook Park, parts of Cleveland, Linndale, Middleburg Heights, North Olmsted, North Royalton, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township, Parma, Parma Heights, and Strongsville. Born November 3, 1953, in Cleveland, he is a lifelong Cuyahoga County resident who grew up as one of nine children on Cleveland's near west side; he is a widower with six children and ten grandchildren. The son of a Cleveland police officer and father of a Cleveland Heights officer killed in the line of duty, Patton has championed legislation for police, firefighters, and first responders, including sponsoring Senate Bill 27 , Senate Bill 114 , and cosponsoring Senate Bill 82 . Notable achievements include serving as Majority Floor Leader, co-chair of the Ohio Senate Autism Caucus, member of the Ohio Athletic Commission and Ohio Turnpike Commission, and advocating for a film tax credit and land bank legislation to address urban blight and economic development. He is the second longest-serving active member of the Ohio General Assembly.

- Education: Attended Cleveland State University; worked as a marketing consultant.
- Community Involvement: Knights of Columbus, Cleveland Athletic Club, Cleveland Police Historical Society, Athletic Board Chair at Incarnate Academy.
- Political Career: First elected to the Ohio Senate in 2008; served as Majority Floor Leader, Vice Chairman of Transportation and Commerce and Labor Committee, and on Finance and other committees. Returned to the Ohio House in 2016 as Majority Whip for the 7th District, then back to Senate District 24. Current committees : Chair of Transportation, Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety, Finance, Financial Institutions, Insurance and Technology.
