Biography
Tom Murphy is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 9B in western Minnesota, which includes the city of Perham and parts of Douglas and Otter Tail Counties. Born on April 19, 1962, he was raised on a dairy farm in Scott County, Minnesota, with seven siblings. He lives in Underwood, Minnesota, with his wife Betty and their five children, and is Catholic, attending St. James Catholic Church in Maine Township. Murphy owns an agriculture products business and was elected in 2022 to an open seat created by redistricting, winning with 70.29% of the vote. He was sworn in for his second term in January 2025. Notable positions include serving as Co-Vice Chair of the Energy Finance and Policy Committee, and as a member of the Human Services Finance and Policy, Health Finance and Policy, and Transportation Finance and Policy Committees.

- Education: B.S. in marketing from Minnesota State University, Mankato .
