Biography
Todd Gardenhire is a Republican state senator representing District 10 in the Tennessee State Senate, covering parts of Hamilton and Bradley Counties. Born on May 7, 1948, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he has served since 2013 after first being elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He is married to Sylvia and has four children. Notable achievements include chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee, serving as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Fiscal Review, and holding leadership roles on committees like Education, Finance Ways & Means , and State & Local Government. Prior to politics, he had a 43-year career in financial services, retiring in 2016 as Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley with designations as a Municipal Bond Professional and Certified Portfolio Manager. He was appointed twice to the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council , and by President George W. Bush to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation Advisory Committee .
