Biography
Tina Courpas is a Republican state representative for Connecticut's 149th District, which includes parts of Greenwich and Stamford. Born in Maryland, she is a Greenwich resident of nearly 20 years, where she raised her four children. A fiscal conservative, she serves on the Housing Committee and advocates for local control, low taxes, and common-sense solutions. Notable achievements include her 2024 election victory and leadership in non-profits focused on women and girls.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree from Princeton University ; law degree from Columbia Law School .
- Professional Career: Over 20 years as a corporate lawyer and investment banker, starting at Goldman Sachs & Co. and later at Silver Point Capital in Greenwich. Served as Executive Director of the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women in Connecticut , leading a statewide COVID-19 economic impact survey on women with over 1,000 participants. Currently on its board. Previously led another non-profit organization.
- Political Experience: First-time candidate elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November 2024. Approved by Connecticut's Citizens Election Program for public financing. Active volunteer in Greenwich Republican Town Committee, local campaigns, schools, and community groups like Domus Kids and her church. Leader in women's initiatives at Princeton and former trustee of St. Paul’s School for Girls in Baltimore.
