Biography
Timmy French is a Republican politician representing Virginia's 1st Senate District, which includes all of Clarke County, Frederick County, Shenandoah County, Warren County, and the City of Winchester. A third-generation farmer and lifelong resident of the Shenandoah Valley, he was elected to the Virginia Senate in 2023 and serves as the only full-time farmer in the chamber. Born on August 23, 1969, in Woodstock, Virginia, he is a Presbyterian and co-owner of French Brothers Dairy, Springdale Poultry, and Springdale Family Farms. Notable achievements include his role as the key voice on agriculture issues in the General Assembly, past presidency of the Shenandoah County Farm Bureau, and recent appointment to the Agricultural and Rural Development Committee of the Council of State Governments Southern Office and the Large Animal Veterinarian Shortage Study.
