Biography
Timaka James-Jones
Timaka James-Jones is a Democratic member of the Mississippi House of Representatives representing the 51st District, a position she has held since 2024. She is married to Marvin James-Jones.
James-Jones has achieved several historic milestones in her career. She was the first female African-American Justice Court Judge elected in Humphreys County and the first African-American elected female Circuit Clerk in Humphreys County, serving in these roles before her election to the state legislature.
Education
James-Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jackson State University.
Political Experience
Prior to her election to the Mississippi House of Representatives, James-Jones worked in local government positions, serving as a Circuit Court Clerk and County Registrar. Her background in these judicial and administrative roles provided significant experience in public service before she transitioned to the state legislature in 2024.
