Biography
Timothy Patrick Sheehy is a Republican politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Montana since January 3, 2025. Prior to his political career, Sheehy was a decorated U.S. Navy SEAL officer and a successful entrepreneur. He founded Bridger Aerospace, an aerial firefighting and wildfire management company, in 2014.
Sheehy was born in Ramsey County, Minnesota, and grew up in Shoreview. He attended St. Paul Academy, graduating in 2004. After high school, he was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in History.
During his military service, Sheehy completed several deployments and hundreds of missions as a Navy SEAL Officer and Team Leader, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and the Pacific region. He was involved in numerous engagements with enemy forces, earning multiple combat decorations, including the Bronze Star with Valor for Heroism in Combat and the Purple Heart Medal.
After leaving active duty in 2014, Sheehy and his wife, Carmen—a former U.S. Marine Corps Officer—settled in Montana to raise their family. They reside on a 20,000-acre cattle ranch near Bozeman, where they raise, feed, and process cattle to contribute to America's food supply chain.
In addition to his business ventures, Sheehy is an active firefighting pilot, having completed hundreds of firefighting missions across the American West as a pilot of the CL415EAF Water Bomber.
