Biography
Tim O'Neal is a Republican representing Pennsylvania's 48th House District, which covers parts of Washington County including the city of Washington and several townships and boroughs. Born in 1980 in Monroeville, Allegheny County, he is a lifelong resident of southwestern Pennsylvania, married to Julia with two children. A veteran, he served in the Pennsylvania National Guard as a captain, including active duty in Afghanistan where he earned the Bronze Star with Valor. Previously, he worked in the energy industry and as human resources director for Mascaro Construction Corp. Elected in a special election on May 15, 2018, and sworn in on June 5, 2018, he has been reelected to four full terms. Notable positions include Republican Minority Whip , member of the Appropriations, Environmental Resources & Energy, Insurance, and Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness committees, and appointments to the Covid-19 Vaccine Joint Task Force and Joint State Government Commission . He focuses on job creation, infrastructure, energy independence, and government reform.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated Jeannette High School ; B.A. in criminology, Indiana University of Pennsylvania ; A.A.S. in mining technology, Pennsylvania State University ; M.B.A. in finance, University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business . Participated in ROTC at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
- Political Experience: First elected to the Pennsylvania House in 2018 special election for the 48th District ; reelected 2018-2024; elevated to Minority Whip in 2023. Serves on key committees and task forces as noted above.
