Biography
Tim Moore is a Republican politician and attorney serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 14th Congressional District since 2025. He previously served as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2025, representing the 111th State House District, which includes Cleveland County and parts of Rutherford County. A lifelong resident of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Moore was first elected to the state House in 2002 after defeating the incumbent Democratic representative. As a staunch conservative, he chaired the Rules Committee after Republicans gained control in 2010 and helped pass legislation lowering business taxes, tightening abortion and voting rules, and opposing Medicaid expansion . Notable achievements include driving infrastructure development, education reform, job creation, and record economic growth in North Carolina, as well as advocating for reopening schools and the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2025, President Trump appointed him to a board investigating FEMA's response to Hurricane Helene. In Congress, he serves on the House Committees on Financial Services and the Budget, focusing on economic growth and financial accountability.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992 ; Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1995. Passed the North Carolina Bar Exam and has practiced law in Cleveland County throughout his career.
