Biography
Tim Grayson is a Democratic California State Senator representing District 9 , elected to the Senate in 2024 after serving in the State Assembly from 2016-2024. Notable achievements include co-founding the Contra Costa Family Justice Center, securing $20 million in state funding for Family Justice Centers, authoring laws on victim support , higher education access , housing affordability, rent protections, and predatory lending reforms, as well as serving as Chair of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee.
Born September 17, 1967, Tim Grayson is a longtime Concord resident, small business owner, and licensed general building contractor for nearly 30 years. Son of a Teamster father and public transit worker mother, he was the first in his family to earn a college degree. He previously served on the Concord City Council , including as Mayor , where he balanced the city's $90 million budget and built reserves. A former Republican who switched parties, Grayson volunteers as a critical response chaplain for the Concord Police Department and received the Presidential Citizens Award in 2008 and 2009. He and his wife have two children.
