Biography
Timothy R. Bonner

Timothy R. Bonner was born on June 7, 1950. He is an American attorney and politician currently serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Before entering politics, Bonner established a distinguished legal career in Mercer County, working as both a private attorney and public servant. He served as Mercer County Assistant District Attorney for 18 years, during which he earned recognition as a lead homicide prosecutor with a conviction rate exceeding 99% and no losses in homicide cases. He also chaired the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Hearing Committee, which oversees cases involving attorney misconduct.
Education
Bonner graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1968. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Westminster College in 1972, graduating magna cum laude. He then attended the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he graduated in 1975 and was selected to serve on the Law Review based on his academic achievement.
Political Experience
Bonner assumed office in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives following a special election on March 17, 2020, initially representing the 8th district and succeeding Tedd Nesbit. Following redistricting, he now represents the 17th district. He was first elected to serve a full term in 2020 and was reelected in 2022 and 2024.
As a state representative, Bonner serves on multiple committees, including the Judiciary, Ethics, Health, and State Government committees. He also serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Hospital Facilities and is a member of the House Committee on Government Oversight and the House Committee on Health. Additionally, he was appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing in 2022.
Beyond his legislative duties, Bonner continues to teach law and government at Grove City College and maintains a law practice with McNickle & Bonner, serving as counsel for various governmental agencies and residents of western Pennsylvania.
