Biography

Thomas W. Moakley is a Democratic state representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving the Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket District. Born around 1995, he is a 29-year-old resident of Falmouth. Elected in November 2024 in a landslide victory after winning the Democratic primary, he was sworn into office in January 2025. Previously, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Cape and Islands, handling cases in Edgartown District Court, Martha's Vineyard Juvenile Court, and the Dukes County Grand Jury. He contributed to establishing the Vineyard’s first Recovery Court to address addiction among repeat offenders.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Georgetown University School of Foreign Service ; Suffolk University Law School .
  • Early Experience: Class President at Falmouth High School; Eagle Scout. Interned for former Nantucket State Rep. Tim Madden and Congressman Jim McGovern. Worked full-time for the Suffolk County District Attorney while attending law school.
