Biography
Thomas C. Alexander is a Republican state senator representing District 1 in South Carolina, covering Oconee and Pickens Counties. He serves as President of the South Carolina Senate and Chairman of the Senate Interstate Cooperation Committee, among other roles. A native of South Carolina residing in Walhalla, Oconee County, with his wife Lynda, he is a businessman owning Alexander’s Office Supply stores and Cleveland Gospel Supply. Notable achievements include being the first legislator to chair both the House and Senate Labor, Commerce and Industry Committees, long-term involvement in health policy through the Reforming States Group , and community service as past president of Walhalla Sertoma and Lions Clubs, where he was named Lion of the Year in 1984-85. He has held positions on various boards, including the Appalachian Council of Governments and Blue Ridge Bank.
