Biography
Theresa Wood is a Democratic representative for the Washington-Chittenden district in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since 2016 . She chairs the House Committee on Human Services and holds ex officio positions on the Health Reform Oversight Committee and Special Committee on Capitol Complex Flood Recovery, while also serving on the Joint Fiscal Committee, Joint Legislative Justice Oversight Committee, Joint Legislative Management Committee, and Vermont Council on Interstate Juvenile Supervision. Notable achievements include her state government career focused on disabilities services—serving as Director of Developmental Disability Services and Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living—leading to the creation of the Theresa Wood Citizenship Award upon her retirement for individuals with developmental disabilities. She contributed to community recovery after Tropical Storm Irene as chair of ReBuild Waterbury, worked as a community liaison for the Agency of Transportation, and engaged in local service through the school board, Revitalizing Waterbury, Rotary Club, Historical Society, Waterbury Senior Center, and her church.
