Theresa Gavarone is a Republican state senator representing Ohio's 2nd Senate District, which includes Erie, Ottawa, and Wood counties, and parts of Huron and Lucas counties. Born on June 30, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, she grew up in Centerville and has lived in Northern Ohio for over 35 years. She is a dedicated wife to Jim, mother of three, attorney, small business co-owner , and member of the Wood County Bar Association and local Kiwanis group. Elected to the Ohio Senate in 2019, she previously served in the Ohio House from 2016-2019 and on the Bowling Green City Council. Notable achievements include election as Senate Majority Floor Leader for the 136th General Assembly and Majority Whip since 2023. She has sponsored bills on elections security, religious freedom, school bus safety, mental health access, cyber security, and water quality, and holds key positions such as Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review, Vice-Chair of the Ohio Ballot Board, and member of the Great Lakes Commission.
