Terrence Upchurch

Terrence Upchurch was born and raised in the greater Collinwood and Glenville communities of Cleveland. He is a proud graduate of St. Peter Chanel High School. Throughout his career, Upchurch has demonstrated a commitment to serving working-class families and underrepresented groups, focusing on issues including maternal and infant health, criminal justice reform, gun legislation, and fair treatment for individuals with disabilities.
Education
Upchurch earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Cleveland State University. He later pursued a Master's of Public Administration degree from Villanova University and is currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree at Cleveland State University's College of Law.
Political Experience
Upchurch began his public service career working as a special assistant to Cleveland City Council and alongside Cuyahoga County Councilman Anthony Hairston. He was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2018, representing House District 20.
As a legislator, Upchurch focuses on economic development, criminal justice reform, and improving educational opportunities. His legislative priorities include rebuilding infrastructure, ensuring quality education for students, and increasing Ohio's local government funding. He has worked to pass bipartisan legislation addressing issues affecting his constituents, particularly working-class families and underrepresented communities.
Currently, Upchurch serves as a Member of the House Committee on Development and as Ranking Member of the House Committee on Small Business.
