Biography
Teresa Saavedra Woorman is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 16 in Montgomery County. A lifelong Democrat, immigrant, and advocate, she was sworn in on August 12, 2024, following an appointment to fill a vacancy. She serves on the Health and Government Operations Committee, including its Public Health & Minority Health Disparities and Health Occupations & Long-Term Care subcommittees. In January 2026, she was named a deputy majority whip. Woorman is also a member of the Maryland Women’s Caucus, Maryland Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus, and Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus . Her priorities include healthcare access, public education, immigrant protections, and government efficiency. Notable achievements include the Dorothy Davidson Award from Montgomery County Young Democrats and Emerging Leader Award from the Latino Democratic Club of Montgomery County .
