Tehmi Jahi Chassion is a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 44 , assuming office on January 8, 2024, after winning outright in the October 14, 2023, primary election. He previously served three terms on the Lafayette Parish School Board, including re-election to District 4 on October 12, 2019. By occupation, he is a pharmacist, roofing and construction professional, and real estate agent. Chassion serves on committees including Health and Welfare, Labor and Industrial Relations, and Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and is a member of the Acadiana Delegation, Democratic Caucus, and Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus. Eligible to serve through 2032.
