Teddy Reese

Tremaine "Teddy" Reese is an American politician and lawyer from Columbus, Georgia. He was born and raised in Gordon, Georgia, and became the first in his family to attend college or university. He currently resides in Columbus, Georgia, where he is actively involved with the local community.

Reese is the principal owner and managing attorney of The Reese Firm, LLC. He is a Life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Albany State University National Alumni Association. He serves on the Planning Advisory Council for the City of Columbus and formerly served as Chair of the Annual Black History Month Observance Breakfast Committee.

Education and Professional Background

Reese attended Albany State University. Throughout his career, he has worked for various organizations including GEICO Corporate, Wilkinson County, Georgia, and the City of Atlanta. From 2013 to 2017, he served as a Staff Attorney and Director of Community Engagement at the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law and Justice. He later worked as a Senior Attorney with The Wright Legal Group from 2017 to 2018.

Political Experience

Reese was elected in 2022 to the Georgia House of Representatives District 140, succeeding Calvin Smyre. In this role, he serves on the Consumer Affairs Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.

Prior to his successful 2022 campaign, Reese ran for Columbus City Council at-large Seat 10 in 2016, losing to incumbent Skip Henderson. He also ran in the 2020 Democratic primary for Georgia Senate District 15 against incumbent Ed Harbison but lost by approximately 1,400 votes.

Notable Achievements

Reese received the Urban League of Greater Columbus Millennial Trailblazer Award in 2017. He was named to Georgia Trend Magazine's 2016 Top 40 Under 40 list and Rural Leader Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 in June 2016, including a Top Honoree designation that year.
