Biography
Robert Theodore Davis Jr. was born on January 23, 1950, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is a retired attorney who has served in the North Carolina House of Representatives since 2012. Davis is a member of the Republican Party and currently represents District 20, which includes New Hanover County.
Education
Davis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University, establishing the educational foundation for his legal career before entering public service.
Political Experience
Davis was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2012, representing the 19th district before redistricting moved him to the 20th district in 2021. He has served continuously in the House, with a tenure of 7.5 terms as of the 2025-2026 legislative session.
During his tenure, Davis has been active on education policy matters. He voted in favor of HB 1061, which sought to replace Common Core standards in North Carolina, and supported HB 13, legislation aimed at capping K-3 class sizes at 22 to 24 students.
