Biography
Tatiana Pérez Ramírez
Tatiana Pérez Ramírez was born on May 21, 1988, in New York City to a Puerto Rican father and a Colombian mother. However, she has always called the El Cibao neighborhood in Camuy, Puerto Rico her home. From an early age, she demonstrated strong values, dedication to education, and a commitment to serving her family and community. She worked from a young age to finance her university studies while completing her academic training in Puerto Rico's public schools.
Throughout her professional career, she has worked in both the private and public sectors, including positions in the restaurant and supermarket industries. Her true passion, however, has been education and public service. She worked as a teacher in Puerto Rico's Department of Education before transitioning to municipal government.
Education
Tatiana Pérez Ramírez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Arecibo Campus. She completed her Master's degree with high honors in Educational Management and Leadership from the same institution, earning the prestigious Rector's Medal in recognition of her academic excellence and hard work.
Political Experience
Pérez Ramírez has been affiliated with the *Partido Nuevo Progresista * since her youth. She initially aspired to lead the Juventud PNP organization in Camuy, demonstrating early political engagement.
She served as a Municipal Legislator in Camuy, where she advocated for community development and improvements to public services. Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, she focused on assisting affected communities in their emotional and physical rebuilding efforts.
On June 2, 2024, during the PNP primary elections, she became the only non-incumbent candidate to win her nomination. In the general elections on November 5, 2024, she achieved a significant victory, finishing in fifth place among eleven at-large representatives and earning her seat in the Puerto Rico House of Representatives representing the At-Large district. She was appointed President of the Education Commission of the House of Representatives, serving in the 2025-2028 term.
