ABOUT

Tarik Khan is from Queens, New York. He earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, and his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2008. After graduating law school, Tarik clerked for a federal judge before joining a law firm. In 2017, Tarik became a visiting professor at Columbia Law School. He taught civil rights litigation and also founded and directed Columbia's Civil Rights Clinic. Tarik worked on several high-profile civil rights cases through the clinic. In 2021, Tarik stepped down from his professorship to run for New York's 12th congressional district. His platform focuses on civil rights, criminal justice reform, healthcare access, and climate change. If elected, Tarik would be the first Muslim to represent New York in Congress.read less
