Biography
Tana Senn is a Democratic politician who represented Washington's 41st Legislative District in the state House of Representatives from 2013 to 2025. She currently serves as Secretary of the *Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families *, appointed by Governor Bob Ferguson on December 18, 2024, effective January 15, 2025. Notable achievements include chairing the Human Services, Youth, and Early Learning Committee for six years, leading passage of the Fair Start for Kids Act and Equal Pay Opportunity Act, and advocating for gun safety, youth homelessness, developmental disabilities, foster care, and electric school buses. Prior roles include Mercer Island City Council member and work in government relations and communications. She is co-president of the National Association of Jewish Legislators and has served on nonprofit boards such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue, Hopelink, and Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Senn resides in Mercer Island with her husband Kevin and two children, Benjamin and Rachel.
