Biography
Tammy Nichols is a Republican state senator representing District 10 in the Idaho State Senate, serving since 2022. Born in February 1976 in Boise, Idaho, she is a mother of five children and a longtime resident of Middleton. Nichols has earned recognition for her conservative activism, including the 2016 Phyllis Schlafly Eagle Award, American Conservative Union Foundation Award, and Club for Growth Defender of Economic Freedom Award. She serves as co-chair of the Idaho Freedom Caucus and state director for Women In Government, and has sponsored notable legislation such as the Education Choice Act and bills addressing mRNA vaccines and vaccine labeling in food.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Boise High School in 1994 and earned a degree in Applied Science from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2016.
Political Experience: Prior to the Senate, Nichols served two terms in the Idaho House of Representatives for District 11B from 2018 to 2022, winning elections in 2018 and 2020 . She currently chairs the Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee and serves on Commerce & Human Resources and Education committees, as well as co-chairing the Child Custody & Domestic Relations Task Force. Nichols is a current precinct committeeperson and former treasurer for the Canyon County Republican Party, with prior roles as state leader for Phyllis Schlafly Eagles and volunteer work with Boy Scouts of America and March of Dimes. Before politics, she worked in banking and medical industries, starting at age six in her family's Boise businesses.
