Biography

Tami Zawistowski is a Republican state representative serving Connecticut's 61st Assembly District, which includes the towns of East Granby, Suffield, and Windsor Locks. She won a special election on April 11, 2014, to succeed Elaine O'Brien in the Connecticut House of Representatives and has been re-elected since. A small business owner since 1996 with Resource Books, LLC, she previously served as executive vice president at Northeast Savings, F.A., in Hartford and assistant director at the UConn School of Business Center for Real Estate and Economic Studies. Zawistowski advocates for economic growth, tax relief, and a business-friendly environment in Connecticut, motivated by concerns over state budgets and borrowing.

Education and Political Experience

Zawistowski's professional background includes expertise in real estate finance and property valuation. Prior to her legislative role, she served on the East Granby Board of Finance, Economic Development Commission, and Chamber of Commerce. In the House, she has been Ranking Member of the Planning & Development Committee, a member of the Appropriations Committee, and serves on Finance, Revenue and Bonding, and Transportation committees. Notable achievements include "Legislator of the Year" from the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities and "Town Crier" from the Connecticut Council of Small Towns in 2019; she is active in the Rural Caucus, Manufacturing Caucus, and Arts, Culture & Tourism Caucus. She currently holds the position until January 6, 2027, and serves as House Republican Policy Chair.
