Biography
Suzanne M. Ness is a Democratic State Representative for Illinois' 66th House District, which includes parts of McHenry and Kane Counties. She has served in this role since January 2021. A small business owner and community leader, she previously served as a McHenry County Board Member for District 2 from 2018-2020 and on the Northern Kane County Board. Notable achievements include securing over $34 million in funding for the district, sponsoring and passing 11-14 bills signed into law, and funding the $12.5 million completion of the Longmeadow Parkway Bridge to avoid tolls. She advocates for environmental sustainability, voting rights, and reproductive healthcare access. Ness founded a non-profit 10 years ago providing leadership development, coaching, and mentorship to local teens, which has expanded to include teen mentoring of elementary students and volunteering at daycares. Born and raised in Marengo, she resides in Crystal Lake with her husband Robert; she is a mother to three adult children, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt. In her free time, she runs marathons , reads, volunteers, listens to music, and spends time with family and friends.
