Biography
Susan Lynn Moran is an American politician and lawyer from Massachusetts. A Democrat, she previously represented the Plymouth and Barnstable District in the Massachusetts Senate from 2020 to 2024, covering towns including Bourne, Falmouth, Kingston, Pembroke, Plymouth, Sandwich, Mashpee, and Plympton. After declining re-election to the Senate in 2024, she successfully ran for and now holds the position of Clerk of the Barnstable County Superior Court, succeeding long-time incumbent Republican Scott Nickerson.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Tufts University and Suffolk University Law School.
- Political Experience: Served as Chairman of the Falmouth Select Board, President of the Cape & Islands Selectmen and Councilors Association, Falmouth’s delegate and Deputy Speaker to the Barnstable County Assembly, and held roles on regional councils including the Cape Economic Development Council and Cape Cod Coastal Resources Water Collaborative. Elected to the Massachusetts Senate in a special election on May 19, 2020, and sworn in on May 28, 2020. Notable committee roles included Vice-chair of the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, and service on the Joint Committee on Cannabis Policy and Joint Committee on Economic Development. Advocated for economic development, childcare, transportation, education, the maritime economy, and environmental protection.
