Biography
Susan Lynn
Susan M. Lynn was born on April 26, 1964, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 57 since January 8, 2013. Lynn is married to Michael and has two children, including Master Sergeant Michael C. Lynn, Jr., and Grace Douchette. She has six grandchildren and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist faith.
Education
Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, awarded Cum Laude. She has completed professional certifications in Financial Management, Six Sigma, Continuous Quality Improvement, and LEAN methodologies.
Political Experience
Lynn previously served in the Tennessee House from January 2003 until November 2010, before being re-elected in 2012. Throughout her legislative career, she has been active on various issues:
- Sponsored legislation in 2018 requiring Tennessee schools to prominently display "In God We Trust"
- Proposed an anti-transgender bathroom bill in 2016
- Co-sponsored a "no-go zone" bill with Bill Ketron in February 2015
- Voted against the removal of a Confederate monument from the Tennessee State Capitol in 2020
- Supported a 2023 resolution to expel three Democratic lawmakers for violating decorum rules
Lynn's professional background includes work as a Financial Controller, and she maintains involvement with various community organizations including the Wilson County Republican Party, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Kids Battle Diabetes.
