Biography
Susan Johnson is a Democratic representative for Connecticut's 49th House District, which includes part of Windham, Connecticut. She has served since January 2009, succeeding Walter Pawelkiewicz, and her current term extends through 2027. Born on October 30, 1951, in Bangor, Maine, she resides in Windham with her husband, Dennis. Notable achievements include her roles as Deputy Majority Leader , Assistant Majority Leader , and service on key committees such as Appropriations, Education, and Human Services. She previously served as a Windham Selectman and chairs the town's Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Associate degree from Manchester Community College; BA from Eastern Connecticut State University; JD from Western New England University School of Law.
- Professional Experience: Attorney with O’Brien and Johnson; worked for the Center for Medicare Advocacy and as an advocate for Connecticut Legal Services; co-host of “Windham Works” and “Let’s Talk About It” on WILI-AM Radio; member of Connecticut Bar Association and Windham County Bar Association.
