Biography

Susan Humphries is a Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 99. As of February 2020, she resides in Wichita, Kansas. Her professional career includes work in advertising and marketing, service as a caseworker with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and practice as an adoption attorney.

Education

Humphries earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in communications from Texas Christian University. She subsequently earned a law degree from the University of Denver in 2014.

Political Experience

Humphries assumed office in the Kansas House of Representatives on January 9, 2017. Her current term is scheduled to end on January 11, 2027. She successfully ran for re-election to District 99, winning in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Committee Leadership and Assignments

During the 2025-2026 legislative session, Humphries serves as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and the Chair of the Rules and Journal Committee. She also serves as the Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Special Claims Against the State. Sponsored bills include measures designating memorial highways, defining biological sex for statutory construction and identification documents, and establishing curricula regarding DEI-CRT-related content at postsecondary institutions.
