Biography
Susan W. Almy is a Democratic member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Grafton 17 . Born on March 28, 1946, in New York City, she resides in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Prior to politics, she spent 25 years in tropical small-farmer agricultural and rural development as an international agricultural researcher, before entering the legislature in 1997.
Notable achievements include first election in 1996, with 13 re-elections to date, serving 12 terms on the Ways & Means Committee , one term on Finance, and work on Election Law, substance abuse, housing, and condominium governance. She chaired the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union board since 2008 and supported same-sex marriage, gender identity non-discrimination, and related bills.

BA in Sociology-Anthropology from Swarthmore College ; MA and PhD in Anthropology from Stanford University .
