Biography
Supreme Moore Omokunde is a Democratic politician representing Wisconsin's 17th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2020. Born on August 22, 1979, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he is the son of Rev. Dr. Omotolokun Omokunde and U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore, and has been a lifelong community organizer focused on criminal justice, climate justice, and social equity.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Riverside University High School in Milwaukee in 1997; attended Marquette University.
- Early Career: Trained in community leadership through AmeriCorps Public Allies, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and Riverwest Neighborhood Association; served on the board of TRUE Skool; worked as community organizer for Sherman Park Community Association, establishing Friends of Sherman Park and aiding a Neighborhood Improvement District.
- Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors : Elected in a special election in 2015, re-elected in 2016 and 2018; chaired the Health and Human Needs Committee and served on the Finance and Audit Committee; co-established the City-County Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity, leading to Milwaukee's Climate and Equity Plan .
- Current Roles: Serves on Assembly committees including Energy and Utilities, Mental Health, Regulatory Licensing Reform, and Transportation; Vice Chair of the Milwaukee Delegation; member of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus and State Innovation Exchange's Reproductive Freedom Leadership Council; boards include MATC Board of Directors and Our Future Milwaukee Coalition.
