Susan J. Vandecasteele

Susan Vandecasteele is an American Republican politician serving in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing the Rockingham 25th district, which encompasses the town of Salem. She was born and raised in Salem, New Hampshire, and has maintained deep roots in her community throughout her life and political career.

Education

Vandecasteele graduated from Salem High School in 1986. Following her secondary education, she pursued a career in the automotive industry rather than continuing to higher education.

Political Experience

Before entering electoral politics, Vandecasteele built extensive professional experience in the automotive sector, working as an automotive technician, in customer service roles, and in management positions. She also became actively involved in local government affairs in Salem.

She was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2022, winning the general election held on November 8, 2022. She assumed office on December 7, 2022, and serves on the Public Works and Highways Committee. During her tenure, she has sponsored several bills demonstrating her commitment to constituent services.

Notably, Vandecasteele's voting record reflects evolving positions on abortion policy. She voted in favor of HB 625 in 2021, which prohibited abortion after 24 weeks of gestation except in medical emergencies. However, by 2023, she voted to repeal the "fetal life protection act" restricting abortion access after 24 weeks through her support for HB 271.
