Biography
Sue Rezin is a Republican state senator representing Illinois's 38th Senate District since her appointment in December 2010, following her election to the Illinois House of Representatives in November 2010. She currently serves as Deputy Minority Leader of the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus, a position she has held since 2021. Rezin is co-owner and manager of her family’s real estate company and resides in Morris, Illinois, with her husband, Keith, and their four children. Notable achievements include establishing the Illinois Valley Flood Resiliency Alliance , which has received national recognition for flood preparation efforts, and helping create the Grundy County summer internship program and a technical program at Joliet Junior College. She received the 2020 Women of Excellence Award from the National Foundation for Women Legislators and serves on its board.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Augustana College with a degree in International Business and Political Science, minoring in Hispanic Studies; completed Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.
- Political Experience: Elected to Illinois House , appointed to Illinois Senate , continually representing the 38th District; Assistant Republican Leader , Deputy Republican Leader ; active in National Conference of State Legislatures Task Force on Energy Supply.
- Community Service: Over 20 years as Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteer; former board member and vice president of Community Foundation of Greater Grundy County.
