Biography
Senator Sue Prentiss ** represents **District 5 in the New Hampshire Senate, currently serving her third term since 2020. She is the Assistant Democratic Leader and a champion for working families, public safety, and Emergency Medical Services.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Prentiss moved to the Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire in 1992 and settled in Lebanon in 2004. She is married with one child and holds an active paramedic certification. Outside politics, she serves as Executive Director of the American Trauma Society, focusing on trauma systems and support for survivors. She was New Hampshire’s first female Chief of EMS at the Department of Safety and the state’s Trauma System Coordinator, with over 20 years of leadership in emergency medical services. Notable achievements include appointment by Secretary Pete Buttigieg to the National EMS Advisory Council in 2020 and designation as one of the first eleven in the country by the Center for Public Safety Excellence in 2008.
In the Senate, she serves on the Health and Human Services Committee, Senate Education Department , and Senate Committee on Transportation.
