Delegate Stuart Schmidt

Stuart Michael Schmidt, Jr. is a Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 33B in Anne Arundel County. Born and raised in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Schmidt is a Christian, husband, and father who has established himself as a business leader and community servant. He is a high school varsity baseball coach, head golf coach, volunteer, and community philanthropist.

Before entering politics, Schmidt spent nine years in corporate positions with Perdue Farms and Mountaire Farms, where he worked as a supply chain coordinator, production planner, and logistics coordinator. He later transitioned to real estate, starting a sales team with his wife Michele at Keller Williams Realty and becoming a broker in multiple states. He founded Schmidt Home Consultants, an independent Keller Williams Realty franchise, which he has operated since 2010. Schmidt received the Realtor of the Year award from the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors in 2023.

Education

Schmidt graduated from Glen Burnie High School in Glen Burnie, Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Salisbury University's Franklin P. Perdue School of Business in 2002. He later pursued graduate education at the University of Baltimore, where he earned his Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship in 2014.

Political Experience

Schmidt was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in November 2022 and was sworn in on January 11, 2023. He won the Republican primary with 70.4 percent of the vote and subsequently won the general election.

Currently, Schmidt serves on the Government, Labor, and Elections Committee and holds a position as Deputy Minority Whip. His committee assignments include the Alcoholic Beverages Subcommittee, Local Government and BiCounty Agencies and Administration, and the Oversight Committee on Personnel. Previously, he served on the House Judiciary Committee and its Civil Law and Procedure and Public Safety subcommittees from 2023 to 2025. He also served on the Joint Committee on Protocol in 2023.
