Stewart Barlow

Stewart E. Barlow is a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives representing District 17, serving since his appointment on September 1, 2011. He is a respected Otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon who serves communities across northern Utah, southern Idaho, and western Wyoming. Barlow resides in Fruit Heights, Utah, with his wife Marie and six children. His spouse worked in the Reagan Administration's Intergovernmental Affairs office.

Education

Barlow holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Utah and a Doctor of Medicine in Otolaryngology from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital.

Political Experience

Barlow has served continuously in the Utah House of Representatives for over 14 years, representing his district through multiple election cycles. He won the 2012 general election with 70.7% of the vote and the 2014 general election with 77.6%.

Throughout his legislative service, Barlow has held several committee positions, including:
- Vice Chair of the Business, Economic Development and Labor Appropriations Subcommittee
- Vice Chair of the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Committee
- Member of the Revenue and Taxation Committee
- Member of the Transportation Committee

Beyond his legislative duties, Barlow is actively involved in healthcare and community leadership. He serves as Vice President of Barlow Corporation and owns Continental Bank and the First National Bank of Layton. He is also a member of the National Advisory Council and serves on board positions at Weber State University, including the Olene S. Walker Institute Board and the Dumke College Advisor Board. Barlow co-founded the Weber County Medical Foundation and previously served as President of the Utah Medical Association.
