Biography
Steve C. Tanner is a Republican member of the Idaho House of Representatives representing District 13B, which covers portions of Nampa in Canyon County. Born in November 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to a military family—his father was a WWII Navy corpsman who landed on Okinawa—he spent much of his life in California before moving to Idaho in 2017. A former programmer and data analyst, he also engaged in pastoral work in Simi Valley, California, with a focus on mental health. He was first elected in 2024, winning the primary with 2,205 votes and the general election unopposed with 17,124 votes. Notable achievements include co-sponsoring House Bill 472 and sponsoring a 2025 bill to document immigration status of Idaho students. He ranks highly with the conservative Idaho Freedom Foundation and serves on legislative committees.
