Biography

Steve Riley

Stephen Douglas Riley was born on June 23, 1958, and is a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing the 23rd House district. His district encompasses Barren County, and he has served in the legislature since January 1, 2017. Riley is a Baptist and maintains active involvement in his community through membership in the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and the Glasgow Rotary Club. He is also a former board member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

Education

Riley earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Government from Western Kentucky University, followed by a Master of Arts in History and Education from the same institution. He also holds Rank I certification in School Administration.

Political Experience

Before his election to the state legislature, Riley had an extensive career in education, working for 31 years at Barren County High School in various roles including teacher, assistant principal, principal, and basketball coach. In the 2024 election cycle, he ran unopposed in both the Republican primary and the general election for the Kentucky House of Representatives, winning with 16,517 votes.
