Biography
Steven Otis is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly representing the 91st District in Westchester County, which includes communities along the Long Island Sound: Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, Port Chester, Rye, and Rye Brook. Elected in November 2012 and taking office January 1, 2013, he previously served as mayor of Rye from 1998 to 2009 and chief of staff to State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer. Notable achievements include authoring laws improving access to AED equipment in youth sports , banning laser pointers at airplane cockpits, strengthening child labor protections for models, preventing soccer goal accidents, expanding annuity options, and increasing penalties for pet theft; he focuses on local government, education, safety, environment, and families.
