Biography

Steve Mentzer is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 97th District in Lancaster County since 2013. Born on October 24, 1956, he was first elected in November 2012 after winning unopposed following the incumbent's withdrawal. He has been re-elected in subsequent general elections. For the 2025-26 session, he serves as Republican Chairman of the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee and as a member of the Intergovernmental Affairs and Operations Committee. Prior to politics, he worked for decades in finance, including as an accountant at Merrill Lynch and a financial advisor at Smith Barney. In 2007, he founded Central American Relief Efforts, a nonprofit for humanitarian work. His political career began in 2009 as unopposed Manheim Township Treasurer.
