Biography
Stephen A. "Steve" Huffman is a Republican member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 5 since 2019, which includes all of Miami and Preble counties and portions of Butler, Darke, and Montgomery counties. Born on November 14, 1964, in Troy, Ohio, he is a lifelong resident of Miami County, raised in Ludlow Falls, and currently resides in Tipp City with his wife, Kathryn, and their five children. A practicing emergency physician for over 30 years, Huffman has worked at facilities like Upper Valley Medical Center, Wayne Hospital, and TeamHealth, and served overseas in underserved regions for 18 months. Notable achievements include serving as Miami County Coroner , where he reduced office costs while maintaining services; winning his Senate seat in 2018 and reelection in 2022 with 94.6% of the vote; and chairing the Senate Health Committee, with prior roles as vice chair of Medicaid and other committees focused on health, education, and workforce issues. His priorities include protecting tax dollars, reducing government dependency, ensuring fair school funding, and addressing Medicaid costs.
