Biography
Steve Eliason is a Republican representative for District 43 in the Utah House of Representatives, serving Salt Lake County since January 1, 2011. He currently holds the position of House Parliamentarian and resides in Sandy, Utah. Notable achievements include sponsoring over 40 pieces of mental health legislation, co-chairing the Governor's Teen Suicide Prevention Task Force in 2018, and serving as a trustee for Counseling on Access to Lethal Means America. He also helped establish the ZERO Suicide Initiative and the Collaborative Care Program , and has received awards for mental health advocacy, presenting to groups like the American Psychiatric Association.
Education and Political Experience
Eliason holds an MBA and is a CPA; he is a University of Utah alumnus and former adjunct faculty member. His political experience spans over a decade in the Utah House, with a focus on behavioral health policy; he now serves as the inaugural Senior Director of Behavioral Health Policy at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. He was a candidate for District 43 in the 2024 Utah General Election.
