Biography
Steve Doyle is a Democratic politician representing Wisconsin's 94th Assembly District since May 2011. Born on May 21, 1958, in La Crosse County, he has served as a member of the La Crosse County Board of Supervisors since 1986, including as chairman from 2002 to 2011. A lifelong resident of La Crosse County, Doyle is an attorney and partner at Johns, Flaherty & Collins, SC, which he co-founded with his wife Gloria in 1988. Notable achievements include bipartisan efforts to create jobs, promote healthcare access , strengthen education, provide tax relief for working families, and advocate for climate resiliency by adding staff at local levels and holding polluters accountable for PFAS contamination. He won re-election in 2024 against Ryan Huebsch with 50.29% of the vote.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Aquinas High School ; BA, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse ; JD, University of Wisconsin Law School .
Political Experience: Began in government as an intern for Congressman Al Baldus in 1980, advancing to full-time staff. Attended law school while working in the state legislature. Ran for Wisconsin State Assembly in 1984. Taught State and Local Government and the American Legal System at UW-La Crosse in the late 1980s. Elected to the Assembly in a 2011 special election to replace Michael Huebsch, defeating John Lautz 54% to 46%; re-elected seven times since. Serves on task forces for adoption and suicide prevention, emphasizing collaboration and mediation in his legal practice.
