Biography

Steve A. Cwodzinski is a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party member representing District 49 in the Minnesota Senate, covering Eden Prairie and parts of neighboring communities in the southwest Twin Cities metro area, primarily in Hennepin County. First elected in 2016, he served District 48 from 2017-2022 before District 49 from 2023 onward, and is currently in his third term. Notable achievements include chairing the Civility Caucus and authoring bills to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. He announced he will not seek reelection in 2026 and plans to retire in 2027 after a decade in the Senate and 43 years of public service.
