Biography

Steven M. Bishop is a Republican state representative serving House District 17 in Maine, which includes the communities of Bucksport, Orland, Penobscot, and Verona Island in Hancock County. Elected in November 2024, he began his term in December 2024 and currently serves on the transportation committee. A third-generation owner of a small business established in 1961, Bishop is a retired Bucksport Police Department officer, former firefighter, retired Deputy Mayor, and former Chair of the Bucksport Planning Board. He is married to Kittie Brill and resides in Bucksport. Notable achievements include cosponsoring "An Act To Require The Maine State Police To Create A Statewide List Of Missing Persons," which became law in June 2025.
