Senator Stephen L. Goldfinch Jr. is a Republican representing District 34 in the South Carolina Senate, covering portions of Georgetown, Horry, and Charleston counties. A native of Conway, South Carolina, he is 42 years old , an attorney, small business owner, and captain serving as a JAG Officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He resides in Murrells Inlet with his wife Renee and their two children, Hadlee and Stephen. Goldfinch entered the 2026 race for South Carolina Attorney General as the first Republican candidate. Notable achievements include leading efforts to create the South Carolina Office of Resilience for flood resilience, sponsoring resolutions for government efficiency committees, and criticizing beach regulations impacting private property rights. He serves on key committees such as Finance, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Fish, Game and Forestry, and Rules, and previously chaired the Georgetown County Legislative Delegation and the Charleston County Fish and Wildlife Subcommittee.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from The Citadel, and a law degree from Charleston School of Law.
• Political Experience: Elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives for District 108 in 2012, serving two terms until 2016. Elected to the South Carolina Senate in 2016, with re-elections in 2020 and 2024 . Also serves on the C.S.S. Hunley Commission and the Grand Strand Area Transportation Study Committee.
