Stephanie A. Young is a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives, serving her third term as the representative for the 16th House District . Notable achievements include having the most bills signed into law in her second term , chairing the Committee on Families, Seniors and Children, and current roles as chair of the Detroit Caucus, House Democratic Caucus, and chaplain for the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus.

Born January 2, 1965, in Detroit, Stephanie A. Young is a divorced mother of two sons, Darius and David. A licensed and ordained Christian minister, she serves on the ministerial staff at Historic Pure Word Missionary Baptist Church in her district. Before entering elected office, she worked as executive director of Detroit’s Community Education Commission , improving educational access, and as a mayoral appointee in the Department of Neighborhoods under Mayor Mike Duggan . She began her career as a legislative aide and has held community roles with organizations like the Detroit Area Agency on Aging. Elected in 2020 to the 8th District, she transitioned to the 16th District after 2022 redistricting and won re-election in 2024.
