Stephanie Vigil
Stephanie Vigil is an American Democratic politician from Colorado Springs. She was born in Monroe, Michigan and later moved to Colorado. Vigil is a community organizer who has worked as an essential worker throughout most of her life, including approximately five years as a gig-working delivery driver.
Vigil is El Paso County's first openly queer elected official and the first LGBTQIA+ individual from El Paso County to be elected to the state legislature.
Political Experience
Vigil served as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from the 16th district , which encompasses Colorado Springs neighborhoods including Cragmor, Knob Hill, Old North End Historic District, Patty Jewett, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
She was elected in November 2022 and assumed office in January 2023. Her tenure came shortly after the Club Q shooting in November 2022, which occurred in her district and claimed five lives while injuring 25 others. This tragedy influenced her legislative focus on protecting vulnerable communities.

In the 2024 election, Vigil was narrowly defeated for re-election by Republican Rebecca Keltie by seven votes, making it one of the closest state legislature elections of 2024.
